Thank God It's Over!

God is good!
DD's episode of blood testing and check-ups has came to an end yesterday.
Doctor concluded that it was a viral fever after all. (Darn u, stubborn virus!)
The paed told us that there is a current viral outbreak and is affecting a lot of children and adults. However, prolonged fever will be treated as possible Dengue until platelet counts shows otherwise. Even dengue test can be misleading.
Her platelet level is back to normal range. NO DENGUE! NO MORE ANTICIPATION that makes you sick to the stomach while waiting for results.
It's always a scare whenever DD has fever. The last time she had one, it was the dreadful H1N1 and before that, it was Dengue. I only pray that after all these hits, she grows stronger everyday and that she had build up her immunity against this life-taking diseases.

I couldn't believe how strong my little DD is...In just one week, she had 6 finger pricks for blood tests, 1 stool test and 1 urine test. On top of that, she was given 2 different types of antibiotics, 3 different types of fever medication, 1 for diarrhoea and 1 probiotics. After her 3rd or 4th blood test, she held up her finger to the lab techinician and told her "Kakak, this finger please today". Never had to force feed her medication either...I'm so proud of my baby girl.
God was with us the whole time. Without Him, I would not have any source of hope. So, thank you Jesus for being our healer. All praise and honour belongs to Him, our Lord Jesus.

Extra: Apparently, Crab soup is a good way of increasing platelet counts. DD had that the night before her platelet count went up. Must thank the nurses that told me that!
Also heard that papaya leaf juice (kinda yucky actually) and kurma(dates) juice are also good for platelets. Wanna thank all my friends and family members that have shared this piece of information with me. Thank you guys!!! XXOO

Roller Coaster Week!

The past week has been an adventure. I've got my fill of highs and lows, ups and downs.
Started out great with my Suprise Birthday Party my DH threw for me (I'll blog about this later). Emotions were soaring high then till my dad had to be hospitalised due to prolonged fever and low level of oxygen in his blood. They placed him in ICU so they could monitor him for 24hrs. It got so bad that he was dependent on the oxygen machine to breathe. Till now his RBC (cells that carries oxygen throughout our body) is low. Just one day after he was discharged, my DD who has been having fever for more than 4 days were taken into the hospital for a blood test. Long story short, her platelet count is below normal but tested negative for Dengue (she's got it when she was only eight months old). Thank God for that. Both her pediatrician couldn't figure out what was wrong. At the moment, they are settling for viral fever. However they need her to take daily blood test till her results goes back to "normal". Sigh...in the midst of it all, we still managed to celebrate my DH's birthday. We had a great time with our family and friends.

This version is really just a slice of the cake. I left out all the eenie weenie parts like staying up all night to sponge DD and cleaning her puke at 1am and at the same time we tried to set a friend up with another friend...some funny moments in my roller coaster ride.

My only hope is to see change in the horizon....God is my only source of strength.

Bizarre Holidays

Two weekends ago, I was thinking of blogging on naming my own bizarre holidays.
When I went in to work the following Monday, I suddenly took notice of my colleague's table calendar that has the extensive list of different types of bizzare holidays celebrated around the world. How weird was that! Swore I have not noticed what was on the calendar before.

Anyway, some of the listed holidays are out-of-the-world bizarre and some makes you go...hmm...seriously?! Who's that genius?! BTW I seriously didn't make these up myself. You can google them.

I've extracted the most bizarre ones out....

29/1 - Fun at Work Day ('coz every other day is a bore!)
5/2 - Bubble Gum Day (Singapore will be upset!)
11/2 - Make a Friend Day (go up to any random stranger?)

Ok...I'm not going to comment on every single one of them....it's just too tiring.

I have arrived!

This is it! I am now officially in my thirties. HAPPY BIRTHDAY ME!!! No longer am I the new arrival....
Being 31 is not that bad....really? says who?!
I looked into the reflection of my mirror...do I have the 'I'm in my thirties' look? OMG! I DO look different  when I was in my 20's. How come I have never noticed the changes??
OH well...cannot complain or rather no point complaining about something I can't change. The fact is, EVERYONE gets older. Beauty product or surgery may help you hide your age but the truth is, the number of years you have lived on this earth Never decreases. The truth is, it adds on every single year...
I'm learning to embrace my age...
A friend once told me (when I was only 24 actually) "You'll love your thirties coz you'll be more stable emotionally, financially and by then you'll have your own personality"....I'm still waiting for that feeling to kick in.
OK OK I should learn to love my age....but I really miss being labelled as " young and free", I miss being hanging out with the youth and not stick out like a sore thumb 'coz I look and behave "older", I miss when everyone addresses me as "Miss" or "Jie" or "Adik" instead of "Mem" as in mdm, "Kakak" and the worst of all...."Auntie"! DO I REALLY LOOK THAT OLD?! or is it just because I'm a mother?!

I would love to say "I love being in my thirties" but until then...I'm still a 23 year old at heart.

I want to act in a local theater production BUT I can't make it to the daily rehearsals
